Participants needed for Vanderbilt Study!

Goals – This study is investigating sensory functioning in ASD, specifically how children combine auditory and visual information and the impact that timing has on these processes.
What - The study includes 11 simple computer tasks asking about timing of audiovisual presentations (flashes/beeps, tools, and speech). There is also a short cognitive battery and a quick non-clinical vision/audition tests.
Participants – High-functioning ASD OR typically developing children and young adults from ages 4 and up.
Where – Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN. Exact directions will be given upon enrollment in the study. Free valet parking is available.

How long - About three hours, but time varies from individual to individual.

Compensation - $40, given in a gift card to either Target or Walmart.

When – The study started 7/11/11 and will continue throughout the summer and fall.

Note - We do have to report this to Vanderbilt for tax purposes, so we have to have everyone fill out a form that includes your social security number. We want to make participants aware of this, since people can be sensitive about giving that info. It will be shredded once reported to our tax department. (you have to pay taxes only if you make over $500 a year in research payments).
